The Mayfair Business Improvement District held its annual stakeholders meeting Monday night on Zoom, re-electing board vice chairman Jason Vizirov of First Class Pharmacy and treasurer Joe Maniaci of Maniaci, Ciccotta & Schweizer without opposition.

Vizirov and Maniaci will each serve another two-year term.

Executive director Donny Smith outlined the challenges of 2020, with all the restrictions due to the coronavirus. The city has not been issuing permits since last March, preventing the BID from holding events.

Nonetheless, Smith said Mayfair BID enjoyed many successes last year. He meets regularly with the Philadelphia BID Alliance, which consists of BID executive directors from across the city.

The Mayfair BID added 13 businesses in 2020. The BID created a list of contractors, recommended by business owners, for necessary construction projects.

During the recent holiday season, the BID took part in a Thanksgiving turkey drive and the Toys for Tots campaign, erected a Christmas tree at Frankford and Cottman avenues and coordinated the Mayfair Christmas Decoration Contest.

Smith recently met with Michael Rashid, the city’s new director of the Department of Commerce, and is hoping to form a relationship that will benefit Mayfair BID members. ••
